I knew Andrea for more than a year before I found out she was in love with My Little
Pony. In fact, when I first found her on YouTube, I didn't even think she was the same
person. It wasn't until just around Christmas of 2007 that she connected the dots for
me, and I found out two of my best friends were the same one person. I never found out
how long she knew I was the same person on YouTube as she knew from the Celiac forum we
originally met on (that forum no longer exists, but we kept in touch through email).
Bon Bon
She was known on the Yahoo! community as "bon_bon_kim." Bon Bon is a yellow pony with
purple hair and loves to cook, just like Andrea. Kim is short for Kimono, a violet pony
with purple hair who lives outside of Ponyville and is known as "the wisest pony in the
land."

On YouTube, she was known as "madamronen," and recently changed her name to
"SillyAllAround," and also went by the nickname, "Dourie." She worked nights at a sleep
therapy clinic as an office assistant and a certified psychiatrist while she studied to
become a pharmacist (no, it's not a coincidence that I am now in pharmacy school too).
Sunday morning, the 6th of January, I woke to the terrible news that I had lost a very
special friend. Saturday morning on her way home from her sleep therapy clinic, Andrea
was in a car accident. I'm told the road conditions were poor due to winter weather, and
that may have contributed to the accident. She did not survive.
She had no videos on YouTube, but she was very active in commenting in my little pony
fan group, and her comments can be found on My Little Pony videos all over YouTube.
We wrote several stories together, and she was a very good friend to me. I will miss
her very much.
The above video was made by one of Dourie's friends on YouTube, MEponyfan, from my little pony fan group, and dedicated to her memory. It features her three favourite unicorns and one of her favourite musical artists.
Andrea's last request was for somebody to make a video featuring Rarity with this music, so I figured this would be fitting. It's only pictures. MEponyfan's video is better. Here, he made another one. This is a masterpiece:
This video was made to be released 100 days after her passing, and originally was made to a song by 3 Doors Down, but MEponyfan wasn't satisfied with the conditions of use, so he changed it to this fitting song by Queen.
A letter from Andrea's mom
After a struggle to get an address, I wrote to Andrea's parents a few days after she died. Here is the reply I got from Andrea's mother. I've removed personally identifiable information because that seemed to be her wish. I got this letter over a month ago, but I just decided today that it should be on this page.
Dear Minty,
I am Andrea's mother. Your message was delivered to me from Dr. *******, and I knew right away that you knew my daughter very well. It is clear that you loved her very much, and we would invite you to grieve with us. Her services were held on Tuesday indoors due to the cold but it was very beautiful.
Yes, the web page is very appropriate! That is definitely our daughter! It is impossible to think of Dory without thinking of My Little Pony!
If she had other friends who would like to send us a word, you may relay those messages to us, but we would ask that you please not make our e-mail address public. Please share our regrets and our sympathies with all her friends.
